Job summary

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking a Web Software Engineer to design, develop, test and maintain campus web applications. You will implement scalable web code, improve performance and security, and collaborate with teams across IT to meet business needs.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in CS or a related field and at least two years of web development experience with languages like ColdFusion, Java and SQL. Remote work is possible within proximity to UTRGV campus.

Qualifications

• Two years of web development experience with technologies commonly used at UT Rio Grande Valley.
• 1) Experience in procedural and object oriented languages (ColdFusion, Java, SQL).
• 2) Knowledge of relational database design concepts, data models and SQL scripting.
• 3) Understanding of internet security: firewall, SSL, secure coding and authentication (LDAP).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, test and maintain campus web software applications.
• 2) May serve as lead engineer on projects.
• 3) Code, test, debug and implement web applications focusing on performance, security and accessibility.
• 4) Develop and maintain dynamic websites in CMS/Portal with standards-based web code.
• 5) Document requirements, translate to technical specs and provide timelines.
