Job summary

Polymarket is seeking a Lead Web Performance Engineer to own the speed, efficiency, and scalability of our web platform. You'll set the direction for web performance at Polymarket, establish the standards and systems that keep the product fast at scale, and shape how Polymarket thinks about performance as a discipline.

We're looking for someone who has operated at serious scale (billions of page loads) and knows what it takes to make a high-traffic web product fast for every user, everywhere.

Qualifications

• Experience in web performance engineering at scale (billions of page loads).
• Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript; understand browser engines and network.
• Experience with real user monitoring, synthetic testing, and observability systems.
• Measurable, data-driven approach: profile, instrument, and prove performance problems.

Responsibilities

• Own web performance end-to-end across Polymarket's web platform.
• Set architecture, standards, and tooling for performance (caching, rendering, bundling).
• Optimize the critical rendering path (SSR, hydration, code splitting, asset delivery).
• Drive caching and CDN strategy across browser, CDN, and edge layers.
• Build performance observability (RUM, Core Web Vitals, synthetic testing).
• Set benchmarks and budgets to keep performance as a core engineering focus.
