Job summary

Monterey Bay Aquarium is seeking a Life Support Engineer to lead design, specification, and configuration of life support and seawater systems. You will perform engineering calculations, create drawings, and coordinate with staff and consultants on larger projects.

Qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent in design for water systems or aquarium life support.
6 years of experience in aquarium life support or water system design and commissioning.
Demonstrated mastery of design principles for aquarium life support systems.
Experience with AutoCAD or similar design drawing software.
Advanced understanding of stationary engineering standards and procedures.
Mastery of filtration concepts for aquarium systems.

Responsibilities

Define life support and water system configurations, including flows, filtration and temperature.
Perform calculations for equipment sizing and specifications.
Review designs for quality and verify system function.
Lead research or projects on life support systems and water treatment.
Train staff on operation and maintenance of water systems.
Create 2D/3D drawings and interface with stakeholders.
