Job summary

LJB Inc. seeks a Senior Water Resources Engineer to help grow our Water Resources Practice in North Carolina.

The role supports a varied client base and is based in Charlotte, Raleigh, or Kernersville, NC, with remote or hybrid options available for candidates located in North Carolina. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of progressive water resources engineering experience, strong technical judgment, and the ability to lead projects, manage client relationships, and mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in water resources.
PE license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent software.
Strong background in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (2D modeling preferred).
Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management regulations.
Preferred: Master's in Civil Engineering with focus in Water Resources.
Familiarity with GIS tools and applications.
Experience with NCDOT standards and hydraulic-related pre-qualifications.
Core skills: communication, leadership, time management, organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning and design of a wide range of water resources and civil infrastructure projects.
Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, with high-quality deliverables.
Interface with clients, stakeholders, and public agencies to build relationships.
Collaborate with CAD designers, EITs, and GIS technicians to develop engineering solutions.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
Travel occasionally to client sites across the U.S. as needed.
