Job summary

The City of DeSoto is seeking a Water Meter Technician to oversee and participate in activities ensuring accurate reading and functioning of water meters, radios, and associated equipment. You will install, calibrate, repair and test meters, program AMR devices, and handle service activations and inquiries.

Ideal candidates have 3 years of related meter work experience, strong knowledge of safety practices, and the ability to coordinate with customers and city staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three years of experience installing, removing, repairing and calibrating water meters, and in programming and troubleshooting AMR equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in work resulting in accurate reading and functioning of water meters and related equipment.
• Install, remove, calibrate, repair and test water meters; program and troubleshoot remote metering equipment; manage turning water services on or off and investigate meter complaints.
• Lead work by organizing and prioritizing service orders, guiding subordinates, and responding to questions.
