Job summary

City of Duluth is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and supervise engineering work for the design, construction, and maintenance of street improvements and utility systems.

This role collaborates with staff engineers, regulators, consultants, and the public to deliver projects on schedule and within budget, while ensuring compliance with standards and providing mentorship to the engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Four years of engineering experience as an Engineer in Training under supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.
• Professional Engineer licensure with ability to obtain Minnesota licensure within six months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Perform design, construction and maintenance for street and utility projects.
• Write project specifications per City, State and Federal guidelines and industry standards.
• Estimate project costs up to $20 million and coordinate with city and regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate projects within the engineering division and with external utility owners and public officials.
• Review plans for conformance with standards and mentor staff to ensure quality work.
