Job summary

Freeman’s Auction House, West Palm Beach, FL, seeks a Director, Senior Specialist, Watches to lead business development, secure consignments, and supervise auction execution. You will guide research, cataloging, and client service while driving revenue growth.

You will mentor Specialists, coordinate with TEPC, and help position Freeman’s in the global luxury market. This senior role requires deep watch expertise and a proven leadership track record.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in Watches and Luxury and strong reputation within the field.
• 7-10+ years of experience in an auction house, gallery, or luxury market leadership role.
• Proven track record of securing consignments and achieving strong sales results.
• Proven business acumen.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.

Responsibilities

• Meet department and revenue goals, contribute to auctions, and promote Freeman’s luxury categories.
• Proactively identify, source and secure watches for sale.
• Proactively develop new opportunities to grow and maintain the volume of transactions with top clients, including dealers, institutions, and private collectors.
• Travel to regional offices to support Business Development efforts and evaluate consignments for upcoming sales.
• Collaborate with TEPC and other departments to develop strategies to reach new consignors and buyers.
• Review and approve consignment proposals, marketing content and communication strategies.
• Contribute to and maintain scholarly integrity of auction catalogues and research; review provenance and attributions.
• Manage consignment-related costs, including terms, margins, marketing, and logistics.
• Ensure successful delivery of sales through marketing, client outreach, and bidding engagement.
• Work with the team to promote auctions by assisting clients at previews and executing bids at auction.
• Stay informed about scholarship, exhibitions, and the watches market.
• Assist with training and education of staff and updating cataloguing standards.
• Monitor market trends, auction results, and collector demand to inform strategy.
• Position the department competitively within the global art market.
• Manage budgets, revenue targets, and sales performance.
• Coordinate with operations, marketing, editorial, and client services.
• Maintain compliance with policies and due diligence standards.
• Develop additional revenue streams with leadership.
