Service Metal in St. Louis seeks an experienced Lead Material Handler to guide a high-performing team in receiving, shipping, and inventory of metal pipe fittings, valves, and flanges using RF scanners and forklifts.

Lead role emphasizes training, coaching, and consistent execution. You’ll balance hands-on work with real-time guidance, improving daily performance while maintaining a safe, professional workplace within a 70+ year-old family-owned business.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of lead/senior warehouse experience.
• Ability to train or coach others in operations.
• Forklift certification; train-the-trainer a plus.
• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly and maintain steady pace.
• Strong warehouse safety, accuracy, and inventory control.
• Ability to balance hands-on work with coaching and problem-solving.
• Comfort holding peers accountable professionally.

Responsibilities

• Set the standard on the warehouse floor through example, coaching, and accountability.
• Train and coach Warehouse Material Handlers on standard processes and guidelines.
• Support onboarding and hands-on training for new hires.
• Provide real-time feedback and elevate performance concerns when appropriate.
• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and discrepancy resolution.
• Ensure warehouse equipment, work areas, and practices are safe and organized.
