The Brooklyn Waldorf School is seeking a Lead Teacher for Early Childhood to guide a class of young children in a play-based Waldorf program on-site in Brooklyn, NY. The position reports to the Interim Head of Schools and offers a competitive salary and benefits.

The Lead Teacher will plan daily curricula, communicate with families, oversee the Support Teacher, and help advance the school's mission of educating the whole child through developmentally appropriate, arts-integrated learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and teaching experience required.
• Waldorf experience highly preferred.
• Love of children ages 2–6 and desire to support their growth through observation and collaboration.
• Previous Waldorf training or willingness to take Waldorf courses within first years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Create an engaging play-based Waldorf Early Childhood curriculum focused on nurturing the whole child—intellectually, emotionally, and physically.
• Oversee daily operations, guide and oversee the class Support Teacher.
• Maintain student records.
• Prepare student end-of-year reports for parents.
• Write bi-weekly newsletters updating parents on class activities.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and staff.
