Job summary
Disney Entertainment & Sports LLC is seeking a Principal Media Streaming Engineer to lead the VOD encoding and processing workflows from content acquisition to delivery for Disney's on‑demand video products. You will join the Media Delivery team, responsible for encoding pipelines, tooling, and operational excellence across platforms.
The role requires 10+ years of experience, deep knowledge of codecs, ABR technologies, and strong scripting and automation skills, with leadership responsibilities
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressively complex related experience
- Experience designing and building VOD processing and encoding workflows
- Experience with on prem and cloud-based transcoding/encoding solutions
- Strong scripting and automation capabilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Responsibilities
- Drive reliability, scalability, and performance of VOD processing and platform experience
- Lead architecture improvements and feature requests with cross-functional teams
- Lead PoC projects and technology evaluations
- Design dashboards, reporting tools, and data visualizations for encoding throughput and KPIs
- Develop automation that streamlines day-to-day workflows and reduces manual work
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations on priorities and deliverables
