Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior technical expert to shape the future of vision-based navigation for human lunar exploration. You will lead architecture and strategy for Vision Based Navigation algorithms across lunar missions, mentor engineers, and drive engineering excellence at scale.

You will engage with cross-program teams to ensure mission requirements are met, provide technical leadership across the GN&C subsystem lifecycle, and influence requirements and roadmaps through the full software

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Aerospace, Robotics, or related Engineering field with 10+ years of demonstrated experience in computer vision development.
• Recognized expert in Robotics and Computer Vision with track record leading complex system implementations.
• Deep experience with optics, camera hardware and calibration, including leading trade studies and technical decisions.
• Foundational understanding in synthetic scene generation and radiometry.
• Ability to lead technical teams, set direction, and influence stakeholders across boundaries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to convey complex concepts to executives.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for Computer Vision development across programs.
• Ensure unit testing, integration testing, and verification & validation of CV software modules.
• Oversee integration of CV software into vehicle baselines.
• Identify gaps and lead automation, tooling, and process improvements at scale.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote technical excellence.
