Job description

For over 20 years, Smartsheet has empowered teams to manage work seamlessly and scale solutions smarter. Now, in our most ambitious chapter yet, we are uniting human teams with AI agents. By orchestrating the work agents do best, automating manual tasks and uncovering insights at scale, we create the space for people to focus on what truly matters: judgment, creativity, and big thinking. That is magic at work, and it’s what we show up for every day.

Smartsheet is in search of a Lead Video Producer to join our Creative Studio team. This is a role for a passionate creative who is as comfortable directing a production as they are presenting to leadership. You will own our Bellevue video studio, lead productions end to end, and set the bar for what Smartsheet video content looks and feels like — from live event activations and executive interviews to social-first content and campaign ad spots. As a Lead Video Producer, you create the work, set the standard, and raise the level of everyone around you.

You are passionate about narrative, storytelling, and the craft specifics of shooting and editing original video. You know how to build a shot list, light a set, and coordinate strategy across a team of editors, motion graphics artists, and producers. You work fluidly across the full range of production, from small and scrappy to high budget with agency partners. You are an excellent collaborator, confident in your craft while open to the input and benefit of working with others.

You may be based remotely, but need to be proximate to our corporate office in Bellevue, WA, with regular, coordinated onsite presence for studio and production days. This role reports to the Creative Director.

You Will:
Shoot and direct with taste and craft
  • Serve as primary camera operator across productions — owning framing, lensing, lighting, and location audio on everything from single-camera interviews to multi-camera shoots.
  • Direct talent on set, including customers, employees, and senior executives, drawing out authentic performance under time pressure.
  • Make the call on the right production approach for the brief: what gets shot in-studio, what gets shot on location, what gets built in post, and what belongs with an agency partner.
Own the onsite studio in Bellevue
  • Run our onsite video studio as a standing capability — configuration, lighting and audio setup, and studio-day execution.
  • Own the camera, lens, lighting, grip, and audio package: specification, acquisition recommendations, maintenance, inventory, and readiness.
  • Define and document repeatable studio setups, capture standards, media management, and post workflows so quality holds no matter who is on the floor.
  • Maintain the studio as a resource the broader marketing organization can rely on.
Lead a range of productions
  • Lead productions from conception to completion across event and field activations, social-first content, campaign and paid ad spots, brand films, customer stories, executive communications, and web and product content.
  • Direct and manage freelance crew: DPs, gaffers, audio operators, grips, and production assistants.
  • Create projects, not just deliver them — identify the story worth telling, build the pitch, and carry it through to a finished asset.
  • Produce and coordinate work involving internal teams, customers, freelancers, and agency partners, tracking key milestones and holding the schedule.
  • Cut and finish your own work at a high level, and synthesize, decipher, and communicate creative feedback to animators, editors, and vendors on work you are not cutting yourself.
Be a reference point for team members and stakeholders
  • Coach other video producers, editors, and motion graphics artists in their work — reviewing cuts, coaching on craft, and helping manage time and priority.
  • Develop relationships and shared sense of success with stakeholders—deeply understanding briefs, anticipating needs, guiding the work in accordance with the brief and scope, and holding equal ownership in projects and their outcomes.
  • Actively participate in brainstorming, planning, and objective creation to ensure creative strategy is on message and appropriate for the target audience.
  • Command a high level of craft, polish, and attention to detail, and hold that bar for the work around you
Operate with strategic acumen
  • See the big picture, understand team and organizational resources, and offer solutions that work within company processes.
  • Participate in the definition and creation of flexible, coherent production systems that scale across the team and marketing, as a whole.
  • Right-size scopes of work based on strategic impact, finding efficiencies via technology when appropriate
You Have:
  • 8 or more years producing video content, with significant time in a marketing, brand studio, or agency environment.
  • A portfolio showing outstanding creative and storytelling capabilities across multiple formats — ideally including event or activation content, social-first work, and campaign or ad spots.
  • Demonstrated experience as a camera operator — hands-on command of cinema and mirrorless bodies, lens selection, exposure, and color pipeline.
  • Practical lighting and location audio skills: interview and set lighting design, lavalier and boom capture.
  • Experience running a studio space, including gear ownership, technical setup, and workflow documentation.
  • End-to-end production experience with a history of meeting deadlines and juggling multiple priorities and partners.
  • Well-versed experience using AI-powered tooling and LLMs (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) to drive efficiency and scalability throughout the video production process.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop at minimum, preferably full suite). Bonus points for motion graphics and animation experience.
  • Solid understanding of audio recording and mixing, and color correction and grading.
  • Experience directing crew and freelancers, and mentoring less senior producers.
  • Comfort working closely with essential executives and business leaders, and the ability to form relationships and partner with stakeholders throughout the business.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (Film, Animation, Journalism, Marketing, Design, or Communications).
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn plug‑ins and adjacent environments, because our team is constantly adapting. Examples include Cinema4D, DaVinci Resolve, Overlord (connects After Effects with Illustrator), and Figma (for staging product UI).
  • Employer subsidized medical/vision and dental coverage for full-time employees
  • 401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay)
  • Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity
  • US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short‑term, and long‑term disability plans
  • US employees receive 12 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave
  • Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to Udemy online courses
  • Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account
  • Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific)
