Job summary

Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital in Plymouth Meeting, PA is seeking a Lead Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia. The role supports anesthesia protocols, monitoring, and perioperative care on a full-time basis with a sign-on bonus and retention bonus.

Responsibilities include planning anesthesia protocols, administering and monitoring anesthesia, assisting during surgeries, managing pain control, and maintaining detailed records.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT licensure preferred.
• Solid understanding of veterinary terminology, medications, and disease processes.
• Strong communication skills for client education and team collaboration.
• Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to exceptional patient and client care.
• Leadership experience coordinating surgical workflow across multiple doctors.

• Assist during surgical and diagnostic procedures and adapt to patient status changes.

• Maintain accurate records of anesthesia protocols, drug usage, and patient responses.
• Maintain a calm, organized workspace with quick access to supplies and troubleshooting.
• Engage in continuing education and case discussions on anesthesia practices.

Plymouth Meeting, PA | Full-Time **$5,000 Sign-on Bonus + $2,000 Retention Bonus**

Compensation

• Starting at $26 - $32/hr, depending on experience and credentials
• Four 10 hour days Mon-Fri with rotating weekend days
• Occasional holidays

What You'll Do

• Plan and prepare individualized anesthesia protocols in collaboration with a veterinary anesthesiologist and other specialists.
• Administer and monitor anesthesia, using advanced equipment to track vital signs, depth of anesthesia, and patient comfort.
• Assist during surgical and diagnostic procedures, anticipating the needs of the veterinary team and adapting to rapid changes in patient status.
• Manage perioperative pain control, administering medications and monitoring pain levels to ensure patient comfort.
• Help maintain accurate records of anesthesia protocols, drug usage, and patient responses to ensure consistent and informed care.
• Maintain a calm, organized workspace, ensuring quick access to necessary supplies and troubleshooting equipment as needed.
• Engage in continuing education and case discussions, keeping abreast of the latest anesthesia protocols, monitoring techniques, and best practices.
