Allied Veterinary Specialists (AVS) invites an experienced Veterinary Technician to step into the role of Surgery Lead Technician in our specialty surgery department. You will partner with surgeons, management, and staff to create a high‑performing unit, guiding workflow, standards, and patient care from consultation through recovery.

Qualifications

• Candidate is a skilled veterinary technician with specialty surgery, anesthesia, emergency/critical care, or advanced nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical and workflow resource for the Surgery technician team.
• Coordinate daily Surgery department workflow and patient assignments.
• Support surgical consultations, rechecks, procedures, and hospitalized patients.
• Assist with advanced surgical procedures and specialty patient care.
• Oversee anesthesia preparation, monitoring, recovery, and patient safety.
• Maintain consistent nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist with training, mentoring, and onboarding Surgery technicians.
• Provide hands‑on coaching and identify training needs.
• Promote sterile technique and proper OR procedures.
• Ensure surgery suites, equipment, and supplies are prepared and maintained.
