Job summary

Cladda Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Team in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Veterinary Cardiologist (DVM, DACVIM-Cardiology) to lead and grow our cardiology service within a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital. The role collaborates with emergency clinicians and other specialties to deliver high-quality, coordinated cardiac care.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD with completion of an accredited cardiology residency.
• Board certification with DACVIM-Cardiology preferred; board-eligible candidates encouraged.
• Active Virginia veterinary license or eligibility.
• Strong clinical and collaborative communication skills.
• Interest in building a new or developing specialty service.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of cardiac patients, including congenital and acquired heart disease, arrhythmias, and congestive heart failure.
• Perform and interpret echocardiography, ECG, and other cardiac diagnostics; oversee interventional and surgical cardiac procedures as applicable.
• Collaborate closely with our emergency team on shared and transferred cases, and with other specialty services on multidisciplinary cases.
• Build and mentor a technical support team dedicated to cardiology.
• Serve as a resource for referring veterinarians and support client communication around diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options.
• Contribute to case rounds, mentorship of emergency clinicians, and ongoing development of hospital protocols.
