Animal Medical & Surgical Hospital in Tulsa is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Assistant to support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across hospital care. This full-time role offers a 4/10 schedule with Tuesday–Saturday availability and a competitive hourly pay.

This position covers exams, surgeries, dentistry, and outpatient procedures while maintaining accurate medical records and delivering compassionate client service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in veterinary assisting preferred.
• Proficiency in animal handling and restraint across dogs and cats.
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, surgeries, and dentistry.
• Experience taking patient histories and vital signs.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Strong communication with clients and team.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
• Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
• Monitoring anesthesia and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team
• Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately

Animal Medical & Surgical Hospital in Tulsa, is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

Schedule And Compensation

• Compensation: $16-$19 per hour, for each hour worked
• This is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Tuesday-Saturday. Every other Saturday with an 8-6p schedule.

Minimum Qualifications And Skill Set

• 3+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Provide training in safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
