Job summary

Waymo is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for vehicle integration of the Self Driving System. You will drive integration from early concept exploration through production, ensuring all mechanical interfaces and geometries align across internal teams and external OEM partners.

You will manage EBOM, BOM release, and PLM processes, leveraging CATIA/V5/V6 or 3DX and DMU strategies, with extensive cross-functional collaboration and travel. 15% travel expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of 8 years of vehicle/transportation experience.
• Proven experience in vehicle packaging and mechanical integration from concept to production.
• 5,000 hours minimum with advanced CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6 or 3DX) and DMU strategies.
• Hands-on BOM management, BOM release processes, and PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive full-vehicle mechanical integration of Waymo’s Self Driving System from concept to production build events.
• Establish mechanical interface requirements and specifications and define geometry boundaries between internal teams and external partners.
• Align cross-functional milestones with integration roadmaps and verification plans.
• Lead CAD/DMU strategies and ensure CAD tree organization and geometric compatibility.
• Manage EBOM structure release and maturation from concept to prototype release.
• Participate in end-to-end vehicle build execution from virtual models to hardware realization.
