Job summary

Vector Solutions is seeking a curious, research-minded designer to own the UX for several public safety products. You’ll engage customers in discovery sessions and usability tests, turning findings into actionable design decisions with coaching from a UX researcher.

You’ll prototype in code using AI tools, contribute to a shared design system, and collaborate across product, design, and engineering in an agile setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years designing digital products, ideally in enterprise or SaaS.
• Hands-on UX research: plan studies, run interviews or usability tests, and turn learning into product decisions.
• Portfolio/case studies showing research-informed design decisions.
• Curiosity about people and their work; join calls, build rapport quickly, ask open questions.
• Comfort with ambiguity; frame problems, decide what to learn first, move forward.
• Clear communication with customers, stakeholders, and technical partners.
• Interest in AI-assisted design; willingness to prototype in code.
• Experience in agile product teams.
• Familiarity with accessibility and designing for scale.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Join customer calls, site conversations, and discovery sessions; ask good questions and dig for the real problem behind requests.
• Partner with UX researchers on interviews, usability tests, surveys, and validation; grow into leading studies.
• Synthesize insights and share them for product teams to act on.
• Use product analytics and support data with interviews to identify user struggles.
• Turn research into design solutions from framing to validated, build-ready designs.
• Build interactive prototypes in code with AI tools and test with users.
• Contribute to a shared design system to keep products consistent.
• Collaborate with product managers, owners, and engineers in an agile environment.
• Explain design rationale and research findings to stakeholders.
