Job summary

The Pueblo of Sandia is seeking a Lead Operator to supervise the safe operation and maintenance of the Water/Wastewater system in Bernalillo, NM. Under minimal supervision, you will direct Operator In Training and Operator 1–2, manage daily activities, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in water treatment and four years in wastewater treatment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screening may be required.
• Certifications listed under Licenses/Certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and evaluates work of Utility Operators.
• Directs OIT and Operator 1 & 2 in plant operations and maintenance.
• Maintains water/wastewater records and reports; ensures SOP compliance.
• Assists Supervisor with scheduling, orientation, and performance actions.
• Tests chlorine content and maintains log sheets; ensures safety compliance.
• Coordinates with regulatory agencies as needed.
