Job summary

City of Sanford is seeking a qualified Public Works/Utility Department technician for Water & Sewer maintenance. The role involves leading field crews, performing complex installations, and ensuring safe operation of pump stations and treatment facilities.

Duties include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and coordinating with operators on leaks and emergencies. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3 years of related experience, and possession or progression toward a Florida

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED; 3 years of responsible labor/utilities experience.
Must possess Florida DEP Level 3+ Water Distribution System Operator License within 18 months.
Must possess Florida Class B CDL.
NIMS IC-100 and IS-700 training within 6 months.

Responsibilities

Lead crew of utility service technicians; provide field direction.
Install, maintain, repair pumping stations, treatment plants, and transport systems.
Inspect and maintain lift stations, water and wastewater facilities and equipment.
Perform routine and complex installations of water/sewer systems; install meters and backflows.
Troubleshoot and repair transmission lines, hydrants, motors, valves, panels, and switches.
Operate equipment and monitor gauges; maintain preventive maintenance records.
