Job summary

OHLA USA is seeking an Underground Utilities Superintendent to lead the safe, efficient execution of underground utility construction on heavy civil projects. You will supervise field crews, coordinate with project managers, utility agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders to keep work progressing on schedule.

The role requires 10+ years in heavy civil construction with 5+ years in a supervisory role and strong knowledge of water, sewer, pipelines, trenching, and safety.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in heavy civil construction with 5+ years in a superintendent/foreman role
• Experience with underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain, pipelines)
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specs
• Knowledge of trenching, shoring, site safety, Cal/OSHA/MUTCD requirements
• Proven leadership of crews and subcontractors
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
• Experience with project scheduling, budgeting and change management
• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise underground utility work to meet production goals, budget and milestones
• Direct foremen, trades, subcontractors and equipment operators to maintain efficient production
• Review plans and provide technical direction to resolve field issues
• Develop daily and weekly work plans based on progress and conditions
• Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure safety and quality standards
• Maintain positive relationships with project teams, vendors, and inspectors
• Identify risks and coordinate actions to keep work progressing safely
