Job summary

Whipple Service Champions is growing our underground division and seeking a Lead Underground Excavation Technician to oversee and perform sewer and water service projects. This role involves exposing utilities, trenching, operating excavation equipment, and mentoring crew members to ensure safe, efficient work on residential sites in Utah.

Requirements include 3-5 years of residential service excavation experience, strong knowledge of underground utilities, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of residential service excavation experience required.
• Proven experience in sewer line repair and replacement, sewer line installations, pipe bursting operations, and main line pulling, repair, replacement, and bursting.
• Strong knowledge of underground utility systems, trenching, and excavation methods.
• Ability to troubleshoot underground sewer and water service issues.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise residential excavation crews on sewer and water service projects.
• Perform sewer line repairs, replacements, liner installations, and pipe bursting projects.
• Diagnose underground utility issues and determine the most effective repair or replacement options.
• Pull, repair, replace, and burst main water service lines.
• Safely and efficiently operate excavators, mini excavators, and other excavation equipment.
• Read and interpret utility locates, site plans, and project specifications.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and in compliance with company and local regulations.
• Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety procedures and best practices.
• Train and mentor crew members on excavation techniques, equipment operation, and safety standards.

About the Role

Whipple Service Champions is growing our underground division and looking for motivated individuals with a solid excavation background. This lead position is responsible for overseeing and performing underground excavation projects involving sewer and water line repairs, replacements, and installations! This role supports our plumbing and underground teams by safely exposing utilities, digging trenches, operating equipment, and assisting with underground repair and replacement projects.

Lead Underground Excavation Technician Duties:
