Job summary

Air Products is seeking a UHP Analytical Engineer to support analytical instrumentation across our gas production and distribution facilities in the Americas. Based in Chandler, AZ with up to 25% travel, you will provide technical expertise in performance testing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and obsolescence planning for ultra-high-purity gas analysis systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in instrumentation, chemistry, engineering, or a related scientific field is required.
  • Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • 15 years of work experience with UHP analytical systems in the Specialty or Industrial Gas industries is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support UHP analytical systems requirements of operating facilities. Drive analytical strategy through consensus building with associated stakeholders.
  • Ensure uptime, reliability, and data integrity of gas analysis systems meet internal and external expectations.
  • Define and support analytical technology selection, sample conditioning system design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance for UHP analytical systems.
  • Work with vendors to identify appropriate analytical systems for operating facilities and test innovative analytical technologies that have low total cost of ownership.
  • Develop and lead training activities related to the equipment and the processes needed to operate and maintain UHP analytical systems.
  • Support FMEA activities and proactively identify risks to system performance. Lead 8D investigations, Root Cause Analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure compliance with QMS and customer expectations. Using a data-driven approach, lead improvements in reliability, accuracy, and data quality.
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with key internal and external customers.
  • Actively participate in multi-functional teams.
