The City of Philadelphia Law Department seeks a Chief Deputy City Solicitor for the Civil Rights Unit. This senior role leads a team of managing and trial attorneys, directs civil rights litigation strategy, and liaises with City departments on policy and legal matters.

A strong supervisory background and PA Bar admission are essential, with extensive courtroom experience. Responsibilities include managing a large team, guiding settlement decisions, and representing the City in major civil

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Must be a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar, or eligible for reciprocity.
• Extensive experience in civil rights and high-exposure litigation helpful.

Responsabilités

• Manage and supervise all attorneys and administrative personnel in the Civil Rights Unit.
• Coach staff on courtroom presentation and client relations.
• Appear in federal and state court for settlement conferences and trials.
• Oversee settlement discussions and advise on strategy and settlement authority.
• Collaborate with City departments to ensure compliance with laws and policies.
