Job summary

SavATree is seeking a Crew Lead Tree Climber in Grand Rapids, MI. You will be a key member of the General Tree Care Team, performing pruning, removals, and cabling to maintain client landscapes with safety and quality in mind.

The role requires climbing proficiency, equipment operation, and a commitment to safety. Leadership opportunities are available for those who demonstrate team guidance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Valid U.S. driver’s license or equivalent.
• Authorization to work legally in the U.S.
• Demonstrated passion for outdoor work and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality tree care services including pruning, removals, and cabling for trees and shrubs.
• Climb trees safely using proper techniques, ropes, saddle, and ladders.
• Operate chainsaws, aerial lifts (bucket trucks), and other tree care equipment effectively.
• Apply ANSI A300 Pruning Standards and ANSI Z safety practices in all tasks.
• Ensure proper pruning cuts and techniques, preserving tree health and structure.
• Assist in tree removals and use ropes or spikes for safe takedowns as needed.
• Identify hazards and perform safety checks before, during, and after each job.
• Perform aerial rescues if necessary, ensuring safety in high-risk situations.
• Maintain strong communication with team members and clients to ensure service and safety.
• Take ownership of role and contribute to a positive, safety-focused team culture.
