Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Technician IV to lead inspection on transportation construction projects across North Carolina. The role involves supervising inspection staff, verifying conformance to plans, and maintaining detailed field records.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology with seven years of progressive technician experience, an active driver’s license, and familiarity with DOT standards.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects (roadway and bridge) to verify conformance to plans and specs.
• Supervise and maintain inspection staff during construction.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items; manage field records and diaries.
• Interact with public, agencies, contractors, and others to resolve field issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
