Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Transportation Technician IV to lead inspection on NC transportation projects, supervising field staff and ensuring conformance to plans and specifications. You will inspect roadway and bridge work, track quantities, maintain daily diaries, and coordinate with agencies, contractors, and the public to resolve field issues while ensuring DOT standards are met.

A candidate should have an associate degree and seven years of progressive technician experience,

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology required.
• 7 years of progressive technician level experience or equivalent.
• Active driver's license required.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects independently.
• Familiarity with DOT Standards and Specifications and Roadway Standard Drawings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of contractor's operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specifications.
• Supervise and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout construction.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Gather and maintain record documents including certifications, testing reports, and diaries.
• Interact with public, government agencies, contractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
