Job summary

City and County of Denver seeks an Engineer-Architect Supervisor to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering complex transportation infrastructure projects. You will provide technical and program direction, manage scope, schedule, and budgets, and coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders.

The role requires PE licensure, a civil engineering background, and a track record in mentoring staff while advancing safety, equity, and efficiency in projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with at least 5 years of direct supervision of engineers.
  • Progressive responsibilities in transportation engineering, infrastructure design, construction, or project management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring, supervising diverse professionals from interns to PE licensed engineers.
  • Strong analytical skills to oversee the engineering team to interpret and draw conclusions from a variety of data sources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers responsible for the delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects and programs.
  • Provide technical, operational, and strategic direction for transportation planning, design, procurement, construction and project closeout.
  • Manage staff workload, performance, professional development, and resource allocation to achieve organizational goals and deliver high‑quality projects.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and compliance with City, state, and federal requirements.
  • Provide quality assurance and technical oversight of engineering designs, construction documents, procurement packages, and consultant deliverables.
  • Manage and coordinate consultants, contractors, internal departments, utilities, regional agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards, policies, procedures, and process improvements to improve project delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Manage transportation program budgets, funding allocations, and resource needs to support annual and long‑term priorities.
