Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) invites applications for Transportation Engineer 3 (Construction Engineering) in the Central Construction Unit, Newington, CT. The role focuses on leading staff in CMAR/CMGC project delivery and serving as a project manager for alternative contracting methods from design through delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management and three years of transportation construction engineering experience.
• One year of general experience at working level in professional transportation construction engineering.
• Substitutions include PE/LS licensure, NICET certification, EIT/LSIT, or advanced degrees.
• Current incumbents may be promoted to Transportation Engineer 3 after three years of experience with certain conditions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a group of engineers and personnel in transportation construction projects.
• Act as liaison with consulting engineers and train inspectors.
• Develop and maintain cost data for design, construction, and maintenance of highways and bridges.
• Prepare reports and correspondence; supervise staff; conduct field visits as required.
• Review contracts for conformance with latest specifications and standards.
• Assist districts with monitoring and reporting on contract requirements.
