Job summary

Progressive / SThree Group seeks a senior electrical/structural engineer to lead transmission reconductoring projects in California. You will select conductors and structures for 150-230 kV, coordinate with design engineers, and perform field visits to verify conditions and ensure constructability from planning through execution.

You will manage schedules with the PM, drive milestones, and maintain rigorous documentation.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering for 5-10+ mile transmission reconductoring projects, including conductor and structure selection for 150-230 kV.
Make informed decisions on conductors, structures, and structure locations, integrating field conditions and constructability.
Collaborate with experienced engineers during early phases to align on design assumptions, standards, and technical decisions.
Coordinate daily/weekly with the design engineer to review project status, resolve issues, and drive progress.
Serve as technical project lead, partnering with the PM to build schedules, manage milestones, and ensure no-slip deadlines (e.g., 30% design completion).
Perform weekly field visits to review pole sites, verify conditions, meet with construction, and ensure design intent aligns with real-world constraints.
Maintain project documentation, schedules, and decision logs using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Provide field and construction coordination, addressing questions, validating constructability, and resolving design conflicts quickly.
