Job summary

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 6+ years of experience in transmission line engineering.
• Experience designing 69kV–500kV transmission lines with PLS-CADD.

• Provide field support during construction activities as needed.

Campos is continuing to grow, and we are looking for a Lead Transmission Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in the engineering, design, and analysis of high-voltage transmission lines while helping to lead project execution, support client relationships, and mentor developing engineers. As a technical leader, you will leverage your expertise in transmission line design and PLS-CADD to deliver high-quality engineering solutions and help develop the next generation of engineering talent.

This is a hybrid position, and we are open to hiring candidates based in any of our California offices, including San Diego, Anaheim, and Walnut Creek. Join us and be a driving force in advancing transmission line engineering while making a meaningful impact on critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the engineering and design of high-voltage transmission lines (69kV-500kV) using PLS-CADD.
• Prepare construction documents, including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, foundation drawings, and assembly drawings.
• Perform detailed engineering analyses to ensure system reliability, safety, and efficiency.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for transmission line clients within the region.
• Mentor and support the professional development of less experienced engineers.
• Provide training and technical guidance on transmission line design and PLS-CADD best practices.
• Provide field support during construction activities as needed.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and lead engineering work requiring sound technical judgment and independent evaluation of engineering methods and procedures.
• Perform engineering assignments involving both conventional engineering practices and complex technical challenges.
• Coordinate project studies, technical reports, and deliverables across departments and disciplines.
• Develop effective solutions to engineering challenges while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to support project success.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 6+ years of experience in transmission line engineering.
• Advanced proficiency with PLS-CADD, including the ability to independently perform transmission line design work and mentor others.
• Experience designing high-voltage transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
• Experience with PLS-TOWER.
• Experience serving in a technical leadership, mentoring, or project lead capacity.
