Job summary

The City of Davenport is seeking a skilled mechanic to diagnose, maintain and repair transit vehicles, with lead-work responsibilities in the automotive shop. Strong diesel, electrical and hydraulic system skills are required.

Starting pay is $29.77 per hour with $30.21 after six months, plus shift differential. CDL training is provided on hire, and a comprehensive benefits package accompanies employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years experience as a skilled mechanic in transit/heavy equipment repair.
• ASE Master Truck Technician or Master Transit Bus certification encouraged within first year.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical defects in all transit vehicles.
• Repair major and minor mechanical systems including brakes, transmissions and diesel equipment.
• Lead workers, assign tasks and supervise junior mechanics.
