Job summary

City of Raleigh North Carolina is seeking a Senior Traffic Signal Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal systems and equipment. This role ensures safe operation of traffic control devices and requires leadership to mentor junior technicians.

You will work with signal controllers, detection systems, and communications networks, reading wiring diagrams and schematics, and responding to emergencies while maintaining safety and MUTCD standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 3–5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance or related work.
• Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Investigates field problems affecting traffic signal operations; resolves problems or refers as appropriate.
• Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs communication systems; operates bucket truck and related equipment safely.
• Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs traffic signal equipment; performs preventative and emergency maintenance.
• Repairs and replaces conduits, wiring and signal hardware; conducts basic electrical work with test equipment.
• Installs/maintains vehicle identification and detection systems; follows drawings and works with live voltage.
• Works outdoors in adverse conditions; on-call rotating shifts for emergencies.
• Supervisory role training newer technicians to perform duties safely and efficiently.
• Coordinates with supervisor to schedule and plan projects in assigned area.
