Job summary

Integer is seeking an experienced Toolmaker in Minnesota to lead toolroom activities in a high-precision environment. You will study CAD models and blueprints, plan operations, and operate CNC mills, EDMs, grinders, lathes, and related tooling equipment.

You will troubleshoot tooling issues, design dies, jigs, and fixtures, and mentor junior technicians while aligning work with QMS and FDA regulations. Strong leadership, blueprint reading, and NIMS mastery are essential.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of related experience.
• Journeyman certification may be required.
• High School diploma or equivalent; technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications from CAD models, blueprints, sketches or tool descriptions and plan sequence of operation to construct.
• Operate tool room equipment such as CNC mill, EDMs, grinders, lathes, and presses.
• Troubleshoot and repair tooling at various stages.
• Design, construct, and repair dies, jigs, gauges and fixtures to close tolerances.
• Mentor and lead other technicians; coordinate toolmaker activities.
• Ensure alignment with QMS, FDA regulations, and company quality initiatives.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Adheres to Integer's Values and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
• Studies specifications from CAD models, blueprints, sketches or tool descriptions and plans sequence of operation to construct.
• Operates tool room equipment at a high level of competency which may include, but is also not limited to:
• CNC mill, CNC Electrical Discharge Machines (EDMs), manual and/or wire EDMs, surface grinders, manual mills, manual lathes, drill presses, and array of hand tools.
• Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of stages of tooling.
• Plans, constructs, and repairs a variety of tool, dies, jigs, gauges and fixtures to close tolerances.
• Demonstrates high-level expertise and experience with equipment.
• Stays abreast of new and developing technology required for position in order to account for any possible changes.
• Participates in problem solving and provides input for process/product evaluations for continuous improvement.
• Makes recommendations to existing work instructions to improve quality, clarity, and/or efficiency.
• Reports equipment issues to appropriate resources for resolution.
• Orders supplies and materials.
• May verify attendance within the timekeeping system in Supervisor's absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Coordinates the activities of other Toolmakers.
• Reports progress and metrics to management.
• Leads projects and mentor other technicians.

• Expands skill base through on-the-job training, cross training, and classroom instruction.
• Trains personnel in proper techniques to utilize systems, equipment, and processes.
• Provides support/guidance, data, and analysis to other departments.
• Supports performance reviews and talent calibration processes.

Continually seeks to drive improvements in product and process quality and identifies and escalates quality non-conformances to assist in achieving company quality objectives and key business metrics.

Education & Experience

• Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent education may be required, associate degree or bachelor's degree in area of technical expertise preferred.
• Minimum Experience: 8-10 years of related experience. Journeymen certification/paperwork also may be required.

Knowledge and skills

• Special Skills: Strong leadership and mechanical aptitude with the ability to apply it in operating tool room equipment. Demonstrated competency at the master level as defined by the National Institute of Metalworking Skills(NIMS). Basic TIG or Tool room welding are a plus.
• Specialized Knowledge : Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints. Strong computer operation skills.

Pay Range: $35.30 - $51.77
