Job summary

Mach Industries is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Tooling Design to drive tooling strategy and automation across high-rate production. You will author standards, lead DFMA and automation studies, and collaborate with suppliers to deliver scalable tooling solutions.

You will guide asset design, perform DOE experiments, and mentor engineers on DFMA, metrology, and production readiness, enabling faster, cheaper, and more reliable manufacturing for advanced defense platforms.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing production tooling, fixtures or end effectors for automated/high-rate assembly.
• Expert in GD&T, datum schemes and tolerance stack-ups with dimensional variation analysis.
• Experience integrating tooling with robots and automated cells, with ROI justification.
• Track record of writing design standards, guides or process specs.
• Strong manufacturing/IE fundamentals: cycle time, OEE, Cp/Cpk, gauge R&R, DOE, ergonomics and ROI.
• Proficient in 3D CAD tools (NX/CATIA/SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Own the Tooling and Design-for-Automation guide including design rules and standards.
• Set metrology and tooling verification standards and oversee gauges.
• Define DFMA sign-off criteria and track DFMA metrics per program.
• Lead DFMA/DOE studies and provide data-backed feedback to design teams.
• Lead R&D on reconfigurable/low-cost fixturing, fixtureless and vision-guided assembly.
• Oversee tool life cycle, build of fixtures, jigs and end effectors, and tool shops' buy-offs.
