Job summary

Carlson Tool & Manufacturing Corp. in Cedarburg, WI is seeking an experienced Lead Tool Maker to lead and mentor a team of 70+ toolmakers in a climate-controlled facility.

You’ll design, build, refurbish, and reverse engineer plastic injection molds while guiding projects from start to finish. You will train apprentices, read engineering designs and CAD models, and collaborate with a skilled team to deliver precision tools for automotive, medical, packaging, and other industries.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker is required.
• Proven expertise in Plastic Injection Molds is required.
• Ability to train and mentor others is required.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze engineering designs and CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, build, refurbishment and reverse engineering of plastic injection molds.
• Guide projects through the shop and mentor fellow Tool Makers and apprentices.
• Collaborate with project leaders and oversee hands-on training.
• Analyze specifications, set up machine tools, and fit/assemble components to fabricate dies.
• Lead mold builds from start to finish and maintain a safe, organized work area.
