Job summary

AUTOKINITON is hiring for a Full-Time, hourly Tool Room Technician at the Belleville, MI Plant 2 facility. The role reports to the Tool Room Supervisor and involves maintaining dies, fixtures, gauges and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma or GED, plus Journeyman Tool Maker Card or 6 years of relevant experience. MIOSHA safety practices are a core requirement in this role.

• Prioritize and assign work load for team.
• Directs training of workers to improve department performance.
• Maintain and upgrade fixtures and gauges.
• Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
• Perform extensive die maintenance such as rebuilding die sections, retiming pads and forms and engineering changes on all types of dies.
• Make decisions and judgments about proper course of action for repair and maintenance.
• Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures to recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
• Determine specifications for inspection of work, using full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before, during and after machining

This Full-Time, hourly role is a part of our Autokiniton - Belleville 2 team and reports to the Tool Room Supervisor.

Required Experience

• Demonstrates good short and long term decision making in these areas:
• 1. Press room troubleshooting
• 2. Diagnosis of problem and courses of action
• 3. Tool room repair and maintenance work
• 4. Tool Room machining practices
• Provide instruction and guidance in the use of tool room equipment.
• Performs activities of Journeyman and other associates in department.
• Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
• Promotes teamwork and shows a willingness to work with other departments.
• Punctual and regular attendance is required.
• Able and willing to work any shift assigned.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
• Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
• Participates in continuous improvement activities.
• Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor.

Education:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency is required. Journeyman Tool makers Card or 6 years experience
