Job summary

AUTOKINITON is seeking a Tool & Die Journeyman for our Elkton, MI facility. This full-time hourly role is part of our Tool and Die Team and reports to the Tool Room Supervisor.

The candidate will plan setup and operation of various machine shop tools, perform weld repairs and heat treatment, and ensure quality through inspections. Relocation is available.

Qualifications

• Journeyman in Tool & Die with 8+ years experience or equivalent.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Metal stamping and manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan setup and operation of machine shop tools considering materials, tolerances, and speeds.
• Weld repair and heat treat various materials.
• Determine inspection specs and perform required inspections.
• Produce jigs, fixtures, tools and dies; fit and assemble.
• Test dies and trace issues to root cause.
• Tear down and reassemble tooling as required.

• Plan setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and machine tool feeds and speeds
• Weld repair and heat treatment of different materials including tool steels.
• Determine specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining
• Perform hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.
• Fit and assemble jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Sets up, runs off and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same
• Tear down, repairs and reassembles tooling on the bench or in the press as required

This full-time hourly role is a part of our Tool and Die Team and reports to the Tool Room Supervisor.

Required experience:

• Tool & Die Journeyman or 8 years equivalent experience
• Proven written and verbal communication skills
• Metal stamping and manufacturing experience preferred
