Job summary

AUTOKINITON in Avon, Ohio, is seeking a senior Maintenance Supervisor for the Tooling department. You will lead safety, quality, and production objectives, drive cost reduction efforts, and ensure alignment with the plant's strategic business plan.

You will manage a team, promote continuous improvement, and collaborate with vendors and cross-functional partners to meet customer expectations and achieve quality registrations such as TS 16949 and ISO 14001.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the Plant’s strategic business plan and identify measurable to support goals.
  • Develop and drive departmental strategy goals and track key metrics.
  • Provide direction and leadership aligned with plant goals.
  • Oversee tool and die department safety, quality, production and delivery objectives.
  • Track and implement improvement activities related to business plans and issues.
  • Assist plant activities to achieve cost reductions goals.
  • Drive department staffing levels and utilization to meet budget.
  • Provide leadership and promote a positive team culture.
  • Promote continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ensure work orders are prioritized appropriately.
  • Lead problem-solving for plant and customer issues.
  • Lead outside die work with vendors.
  • Support activities toward achieving customer awards and quality registrations (TS 16949, ISO 14001).
  • Ensure direct reports are aware of EHS responsibilities and held accountable.

RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Provide key input into the development of the Plant’s strategic business plan and identify and track key measurable to support plant business plan goals.
  • Develop and drive the development of departmental strategy goals and identify and track key measurable to support the department goals.
  • Provide direction and leadership consistent with plant business plan goals.
  • Responsible for tool and die department safety, quality, production and delivery objectives.
  • Track, monitor and implement required improvement activities related to business plan, goals, issues, etc.
  • Assist, as required, plant activities to achieve cost reductions goals.
  • Drive department manning levels and utilization to assure compliance to budget.
  • Provide leadership and promote positive moral and ensure a total team concept.
  • Provide the proactive leadership necessary to achieve and maintain a continuous improvement mind set for the team.
  • Assure work orders are prioritized appropriately.
  • Direct, drive and participate in problem solving methods for related plant and customer issues.
  • Lead activities for any outside die work with vendors.
  • Drive and support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and quality registrations (ex. TS 16949, ISO 14001, etc.)
  • Assure all direct reports are aware of their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responsibilities and hold all direct reports accountable.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science in Manufacturing, Engineering or Industrial Technology preferred. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience as a maintenance supervisor and/or Journeyman Tool & Die Maker preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, stamping, and/or assembly processes as required for the position.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to mentor and teach the team in effective problem solving methods.
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience as a training facilitator preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast paced environment.

This full‑time, salary role is a part of our Tooling department and reports to the Operations Manager.
