Congregation Har Shalom's Sherman Early Childhood Center in Potomac, MD, seeks a caring, inspiring lead toddler teacher to join a year-round, full-time program. The role emphasizes play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and collaboration with a warm, supportive team to nurture early childhood development.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years with 12-36 month-olds, Infant/Toddler Certification, and a bachelor’s degree preferred, with a commitment to safety and inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Must hold 90 hour child care certification, 45 hours Infant Toddler Certification.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of experience with children 12-36 months.
• Experience with constructivist pedagogy and emergent curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Set up, plan, and implement provocations, lessons, and activities developmentally appropriate.
• Follow all school, synagogue, and Office of Childcare requirements.
• Support children’s physical, emotional, and special needs.
• Ensure safety of all children with proper supervision and care.
• Support the school's educational philosophy, values, and Jewish content.
• Communicate effectively and promptly with team and leadership.
• Create and maintain documentation of student progress and needs.
• Participate in team meetings and family programming beyond school hours.
• Demonstrate physical ability to care for children including lifting and running.

Job description

The Sherman Early Childhood Center is a full-time Jewish preschool at Congregation Har Shalom in Potomac, MD. We are committed to offering a safe and nurturing environment where learning happens through play, collaboration, and an integrated emergent curriculum.

We are seeking a caring, inspiring and enthusiastic lead toddler teacher who can be a contributing professional team member in a class of young children. This position will work year round, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am- 5:30 pm.

Applicants with experience working with children with differing abilities are highly preferred and compensated.

Requirements

• Participate in all team meetings and family programming assigned, beyond school hours.
• Physical ability to care and insure the safety of all children including lifting, carrying, and running.
