Christian Montessori School of Ann Arbor is currently seeking a full-time Toddler Montessori Lead Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators who share a love and respect for children. The ideal candidate will join us in the fall or sooner if they are available. We empower our Lead Teachers to be self-starters, with all the resources they need to curate beautiful, authentic Montessori classrooms.

Position Details:
Full time/year round position
Salary Range: $34,000-$37,000/year – Based on experience

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a Child related field or equivalent experience working with children
  2. American Montessori Society (AMS), Association Montessori International (AMI), or Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) certified 0-3
  3. Successfully pass the required pre-employment background check, physical, TB test, CPR/First Aid/BBP Training
  4. Experience leading in a Montessori/Toddler classroom preferred, or at least 3 years teaching experience
  5. Candidates at the practicum stage of their 0-3 training are encouraged to apply
  6. Proficient computer skills including Google Suite/Microsoft Office products
  7. Be comfortable talking with children about the Christian faith and principles
  8. Be able to lead and mentor classroom assistants

Responsibilities:

  1. Take leadership of a classroom with up to 12 children and 2-3 assistant teachers.
  2. Be in attendance at all staff meetings and after-hour parent meetings, admissions events, professional development days, or classroom socials.
  3. Prepare and participate in two parent conferences per school year (Fall & End of Year).
  4. Communication: Routinely provide verbal and written updates to parents on their child’s development.
  5. Maintain current ongoing records (communication logs, conference summary forms, observation notes) on all students in your care using Transparent Classroom & LineLeader.
  6. Supervise, direct, train, and mentor 2-3 teaching assistants in the classroom.
  7. Plan and implement a classroom schedule identifying a fair and equitable distribution of job responsibilities for all adults to follow.
  8. Implement a daily curriculum that honors the Montessori philosophy and the individuality of each child in the classroom.
  9. Prepare appropriate lessons for each child based on observations.
  10. Work in alignment with the Lead Teacher team and Administration developing and implementing the school’s strategic vision.
  11. Collaborate with other lead teachers at CMSAA.
  12. Maintain a beautifully prepared, organized, clean, safe, and stimulating environment for the children.
  13. Develop a weekly newsletter for parents detailing the week’s activities through photographs and include items that inform parents about the Montessori Method and parenting young children.
  14. Attend and participate in weekly meetings with the Assistant Head of School and monthly meetings with all Lead teachers.
  15. Build respectful, collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues.
  16. Rotate materials regularly based on observation of needs and interests of students/community.

Pay: $34,000.00 – $37,000.00 per year
