Job summary

Target is seeking a Lead Engineer (L6) for Threat Management Engineering to design and deliver durable, cross-platform threat management systems. You will own APIs, data capabilities, and integrations, while guiding discovery, deployment, and operational excellence across multiple teams in a hybrid work model at Target Technology Services.

You will influence AI usage in engineering, ensure security and observability, and mentor engineers to raise standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience and ownership of complex problems.
• Backend and platform engineering across APIs, services, and data-heavy apps.
• Frontend experience across user-facing workflows plus full-stack ability.
• Experience building data pipelines and analytical data models.
• Designing multi-component systems spanning APIs, events, data stores, and platforms.
• Git-based workflows, CI/CD, automated validation and testing, and safe production releases.
• Public or private cloud experience; Google Cloud exposure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for complex Threat Management systems and durable architectures.
• Design, build, and evolve threat management products, APIs, and data capabilities.
• Lead engineering of detection-lifecycle capabilities across platforms.
• Establish observability foundations with clear metrics and lineage for reliability.
• Collaborate with Threat Management leadership to frame problems and tradeoffs.
• Own products and platforms, ensuring reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Understand critical data feeds and drive cross-team coordination to improve signal quality.
• Define testing, release, rollback, and change-management strategies.
