Job summary

Archer is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer in San Jose to own and deliver a novel thermal system for our Hybrid aircrafts. You will select materials, validate with testing, and coordinate with manufacturing and test teams.

The role requires strong fundamentals in complex system design, experience with stress/FEA, and proficiency in Siemens NX and PLM/PDM environments. Excellent communication with multidisciplinary stakeholders is essential for success.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in a related scientific or engineering field.
• 5+ years experience in mechanical design.
• Experience with stress and finite element analysis.
• Experience with Siemens NX and suite of tools.
• A systematic approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate complex, technical rationale to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Extremely self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and documents.

Responsibilities

• Own, design, model and deliver a novel thermal system for our Hybrid aircrafts thermal design.
• Select the right technology, materials and for a very complex and novel thermal system.
• Design it so it’s light, performative and cost effective.
• Prove that the system is as good as you think it is - through test definition.
• Work with stakeholders to deliver the complete system.
• Manage design lifecycle, including interfacing with manufacturing and test teams.
• Attend and present your designs to stakeholders.
• Interface with supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and stress / FEA engineers.
