Job summary

VTG is seeking a Lead Test Engineer to support our customer. The role involves providing testing expertise for complex software and hardware, leading risk assessments, and directing test design and tooling decisions.

You will plan and execute environmental, operational, and performance tests across various systems, supervise engineering staff in test apparatus fabrication, and ensure results and documentation meet all standards. Travel 75%+ is required.

Overview

VTG is seeking a Lead Test Engineer to support our customer.

What will you do?

• Subject matter expert providing testing expertise for support of user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications.
• Directs and/or participates in all phases of risk management assessments and software/hardware development with emphasis on analysis of user requirements, test design and test tools selection.
• Responsible for ensuring that the test design and documentation support all applicable client, agency or industry standards time lines and budgets.
• Responsible for ensuring that testing conclusions and recommendations are fully supported by test results, and project managers are fully informed of testing status and application deviations from documented user requirements.
• Plans and administers environmental, operational, or performance tests on aeronautical, electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, general industrial, experimental, automotive equipment, industrial machinery and equipment, controls, and systems, and other products and systems.
• Designs and directs engineering and technical personnel in fabrication of testing and test-control apparatus and equipment.
• Positions covered by this definition are characterized by the inclusion of work that requires an understanding of both theories and principles.
• Excludes paraprofessional positions.
• Coordinates and directs engineering activities concerned with the development, procurement installation, and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices required to test, telemeter, record, and reduce test data.
• Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
• Directs and exercises control over operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.
• Confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems, such as product or systems malfunctions, incomplete test data, and data interpretations considering such factors as conditions under which test was conducted and instrumentation, procedures, and phase of test used to obtain and record data.
• Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel.

Do you have what it takes?

• Must have a BA/BS in a technical discipline with at least 10 years of experience.
• Must have and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Eligible for a Top Secret.
• Willing to travel 75% or more

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $89,888-$147,607 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
