Job summary

VTG seeks a Lead Configuration Management Specialist to support a defense customer in Chantilly, VA. This role focuses on CM planning, identification, change control, status accounting, and audits to maintain rigorous baselines.

You will oversee documentation integrity across requirements, design, software, and related artifacts, and ensure changes are properly authorized and traceable throughout the system life cycle.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a technical discipline and 10+ years of experience.
• Must maintain a Secret clearance.
• Eligible for Top Secret clearance.
• Willing to travel 75% or more.

Overview

VTG is seeking a Lead Configuration Management Specialist to support our customer.

What will you do?

• Responsible for configuration management planning.
• Describes provisions for configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting and configuration audits.
• Responsible for configuration planning.
• Identifies and maintains the original configuration of requirements documentation, design documentation, software and related documentation.
• Responsible for configuration change control.
• Regulates the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software.
• Responsible for configuration status accounting.
• Tracks all problems and changes in product documents and software and reports changes and current configuration.
• Responsible for configuration audits.
• Supports audits to verify that requirements of all baselines have been met by the as-built software.
• Supports software quality assurance process audits.
• Administers the Configuration Management (CM) activities and processes for establishing and managing changes and consistency in the performance of complex systems and product engineering processes, preventing catastrophic consequences such as failure of equipment or loss of life, in military, aerospace, industrial, and/or civil engineering organizations.
• Develops procedures for and implements changes to engineering documents.
• Reviews released engineering change data and documentation activities, and coordinates and implements system documentation, ensuring adherence to CM requirements, procedures, and policies.
• Provides visibility and control of performance, functional, and physical attributes over the life cycle of a system, process, or project.
• Analyzes, proposes, evaluates, and implements changes of a system, process, or product design to determine their anticipated impact on the overall system, process, or product, using a standardized, systematic approach that ensures consistency.
• Coordinates modification records for management control. Establishes change orders and prepares for change authorization and documentation.
• Reviews and analyzes released engineering change data and coordinates changes.
• Ensures that all changes to complex systems are performed with the knowledge and consent of management.
• Verifies that changes are carried out as prescribed, that systems and products perform as intended, and that documentation of items and systems is detailed to reflect their true configuration and support their projected life cycle.
• Facilitates orderly management of system information and system changes for such beneficial purposes as to revise capability; improve performance, reliability, or maintainability; extend life; reduce cost; reduce risk and liability; or correct defects.
• Ensures that documentation, such as requirements, design, test, and acceptance documentation, for items is accurate and consistent with the actual physical design of the item.

Do you have what it takes?

• Must have a BA/BS in a technical discipline with at least 10 years of experience.
• Must have and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Eligible for a Top Secret.
• Willing to travel 75% or more

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $64,224-$99,295 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
