Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Hillsboro, Oregon, is seeking an Applications Development Scientist to develop and release innovative TEM-based applications for semiconductor customers. You will bridge customer needs with Field Applications, R&D, and Product Marketing to ensure solutions meet real-world challenges.

The role involves leading adoption programs, validating workflows, and mentoring a team while collaborating across functions. Travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on TEM instrumentation experience in semiconductor, materials science, or related industries.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, research institutes, or fabrication environments focused on process development, process control, or failure analysis preferred.
• People management experience, including performance management, coaching, and talent development, preferred.
• Strong TEM expertise and electron microscopy applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead adoption programs for new TEM solutions and validate workflows.
• Partner with semiconductor customers to understand application needs and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with R&D, Product Marketing, and Field Applications to translate requirements.
• Provide technical support to Sales, Service, Manufacturing, and R&D teams.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing applications team.
• Travel internationally up to 25%.
