Position at a Glance
Location: Pennsville, NJ
Position Type: Full‑Time
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM

Pay: $31.80 – $37.10/hour – Based on experience
What You’ll Do
As a Lead Technician, you will function as an experienced technician who is able to perform diagnosis and repairs of most vehicle components without supervision. You will:
- Perform unsupervised work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Perform major component repairs and/or overhauls.
- Diagnose vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.
- Determine cause of most malfunctions and perform repairs.
- Perform electrical and/or air conditioning system repairs.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Document all required information for successful completion of a warranty claim.
- Must be able to meet specified times consistently.
- Must be able to consistently maintain greater than 80% productivity and greater than 95% efficiency.
- Road‑test vehicles or refer to test technician.
- Assist other technicians in major repairs.
- Participate in manufacturer‑sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Inspect and test‑drive newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions.
- Install optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer and report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Work in a team environment.
- Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean and notify service advisor immediately of any changes to appearance or condition.
- Keep shop area neat and clean, including emptying trash cans when needed.
- Maintain and be accountable for all dealership‑owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as received.
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right‑to‑Know.
- Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner and report any safety issues immediately to management.
- Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment.
What You Bring
Education & Experience:
- Vocational/technical school graduate preferred.
- Five years related experience required.
- Must have experience in engine and driveline troubleshooting.
- Must have experience in electrical repair and air conditioning systems.
- Must have component overhaul experience and/or specialty (A/C or electrical) experience.
- Must be able to obtain a passing grade during Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and/or vendor training.
Certificates & Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with ability to drive manual transmission preferred; must meet company insurability standards.
- State Vehicle Inspector Certification (Class 7) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
