Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced cabling technician for a contract-to-hire role in Columbia, MD, supporting MedStar and healthcare facilities. You will perform MAC work, install cabling, terminate CAT6e, and rack and stack equipment, coordinating with a project manager to receive tickets and complete tasks on site.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with CAT6e, fiber optic, testing (Fluke), and a professional client-facing presence in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with CAT6e and fiber optic cabling.
• Experience installing, terminating, testing cabling with basic test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform MAC (Move, Add, Change) work for telecommunications devices.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and receive tickets for duties on site.
• Closet build outs, racking and stacking of equipment, installation of cable.
• Provide professional client-facing support in a healthcare environment.

Our customer is one of the countries number one engineering firms, that has been around for 50+ years, and is 100% employee owned. There telecommunications division provides full turnkey solutions to a number of major clients. They have both a wireline and wireless division within the DMV. Within their wireline group they do a ton of ISP work within the healthcare industry.

Our customer is looking for an experienced and professional cable tech to support one of their high profile clients, Medstar out of the Georgetown and Washington Hospital locations. This individual will be the main resource performing MAC (Move, Add, and Change) work for their telecommunications devices. They will coordinate with a Project Manager and received tickets for duties not limited to Closet Build Outs, Racking and Stacking of equipment, Installation of cable, etc. The majority of what they will be work with is CAT6e so they need to know how to perform terminations and testing (Fluke). Fiber experience, Leviton/Bertech OEM experience is a plus.

Since they will be working in a healthcare environment, this technician must be very client facing and professional as they are the face of the company on site. They also need to have experience working in such an industry as they will have to keep up with infectious control standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
