Job summary

CACI is seeking a Lead Technical Writer to support the Defense Intelligence Agency through the CIS program. You will lead a team of writers, shape technical documentation, and coordinate with government customers.

The role demands TS/SCI clearance with poly, a strong technical background, and the ability to drive documentation quality across hardware and software systems. You will manage lifecycle documentation, mentor staff, and champion process enhancements while aligning with mission goals

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to obtain poly prior to start
• HS diploma/GED with 12+ years, AA with 10+ years, BS/BA with 8+ years, MS/MA with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years
• Minimum of five years in a technical or lead writing role
• Writing excellence: distill complex information into clear, concise text under deadline
• Production & tooling: experience with templates and output styles
• Technical acumen: understanding of SDLC, IC ITE, RMF, and related terminology
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new environments

Responsibilities

• Shape how operations and engineering teams communicate complex capabilities
• Lead a small team of professional technical writers
• Drive operations, tech refresh activities, and mission support across a global base
• Produce diverse documents: how-to guides, SOPs, CONOPS, user articles, and instructions
• Manage full documentation lifecycle: draft, review, revise, and maintain documents
• Act as process owner for technical documentation on the program
• Provide day-to-day oversight of the writing team and deliverable priorities
• Liaise with government customer for contract coordination and task execution
• Mentor and guide experienced professionals on assignments
• Escalation point for complex documentation challenges
• Drive continuous improvement with best practices and peer reviews
• Champion use of AI tools to enhance speed and quality
