Job summary

Trove Brands is seeking an experienced Technical Development Manager to own the design and development infrastructure for bags and accessories. You will define construction specs, lead the PD handoff, and maintain a master library of technical standards.

You will coordinate with PMs, design, supply chain, quality, and overseas factories to ensure precise, manufacturable outcomes. You will also lead technical reviews, manage vendor qualifications, and mentor junior staff while traveling

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Textile Design, or related field.
7+ years in soft goods technical design or product development for bags/accessories.
Experience with tech packs and construction specs for bags at commercial scale.
Knowledge of seam architecture, hardware, fabric finishing, trim integration, production quality.
Experience with full development cycle with Asian manufacturing partners.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for technical drawings and specs.
Experience mentoring junior technical staff and factory communications.
Strong written and verbal factory communications with global partners.
Passion for soft goods construction and delivering high technical/commercial standards.

Responsibilities

Own the technical design and development infrastructure for bags and accessories from proto through pre-production.
Define and maintain construction specifications and tech packs translating briefs into factory-ready docs.
Lead handoff from design to PD, preserving design intent in manufacturable specs.
Build a master technical spec library across construction standards, tolerances, hardware and quality.
Lead technical reviews at development sample stages and direct factory corrections as needed.
Partner with PMs and CMF Developer to ensure viable materials and platforms before brief.
Collaborate with Supply Chain and overseas partners on vendor technical assessment and sample QA.
Oversee the Technical Product Developer, set targets and coach evaluation and factory comms.
Manage overseas factory communication on complex construction matters and resolve issues.
Participate in seasonal development reviews and pre-production gates.
Incorporate learnings into future construction standards and specs.
Travel internationally several times a year to visit overseas partners and assess samples.
